Engineering
If you are in the engineering field and whether or not CAR, PAR or
EAR is something that makes sense to you,
Western is here to help.
Our contract works cover (CAR) is intended to cover engineering related
risks during the construction of
anything from private houses, right up to power stations and refineries.
It also covers infrastructure such as
bridges, roads, dams, water reticulation and pipelines. In short everything
from applying a new coat of paint to
engineering a suspension bridge can be covered.
Our plant all risk cover (PAR) is intended to cover any equipment
or the construction itself against risk relating
to the storage, transit or plant onsite storage of equipment used in
construction. This type of cover will cover
items such as earthmoving equipment, cranes, pumps, air compressors
etc. In addition standard cover is
available for hiring costs, legal liability arising out of the hire
and continuing hire charges. The cover is issued
on a new replacement value basis per item but a market related value
can also be obtained at a higher rate.
Third Party Liability cover for plant on site is also available. This
cover extends to risks such as fortuitous
working accidents, theft, fire, faulty operation, overturning as well
as natural perils such as earthquake, storm,
flood, collision, etc.
Erection All Risk (EAR) covers on an all risk basis, including cover
for the testing and commissioning of the
erected machines and also protects the insured against loss and damage.
The above can be combined into a single cover, which would combine
CAR, PAR and EAR risks on the same
project. For example the construction of a dam and the hydroelectric
power plant that will be built with it.
